After liver transplanting to mother, "I'm actually Shinchonji member and also notified of Corona virus suspicious"

On December 18th, Daegu Catholic University Hospital had a daughter transplant the liver to her mother.

The day before surgery, the test had no problem to proceed operation. 

 

 



After the operation, her daughter was notified of self solation at the public health center, and she informed the hospital that she was a member of the church, Shinchonji, issued church related corona virus outbreak.

The Corona 19 test was done immediately and positive and confirmed yesterday.

 



Thirty ight people, including six doctors and 24 nurses who participated in the surgery or worked in the ward, were quarantined, and the operating room and ward were closed.

A mother who has had a liver transplant is now isolated in a single room and is being tested for corona19.

Coronaviruses are detected in the airways, lungs, and kidneys, but there have been no reported cases of viruses found in the liver so the possibility of transmission through the liver is unknown.

It is also impossible to rule out possible blood infections.
